Hide Away
Words by Francis Tait and James Lynch

Days before they embark on their first tour of Europe, we’ve got the pleasure of premiering ‘Hide Away’, the manic new single from garage-punk workhorses Jackson Reid Briggs & The Heaters.
Not a band to rest on their laurels, Jackson Reid Briggs & The Heaters are back today with the first taste of their fourth album Hammered, which will be arriving hot on the heels of last December’s It All Comes Down.

Picking up where the previous release left off, ‘Hide Away’ is a wiry and chaotic burst of punk fuelled rock ’n’ roll, led by Jackson’s distinctively strained vocals and powered by his band’s explosive energy. Following a brooding, layered intro, ‘Hide Away’ quickly picks up a propulsive beat as the volatile guitars sprawl around a striking melody. Before long, we’re struck by a wall of noise as the band erupt into the chorus, Jackson blasting us with his wild howl while the unhinged guitars tangle with some fiery horns, and a fervent rhythm section pound away underneath.

A track about “self imposed isolation, induced by a shift in your position in society”, the irony is that with a chorus this potent, instead of shying away, we're left belting along at the top of our lungs.

Check out 'Hide Away' above, and if you're in Europe over the next month, catch Jackson and the gang in a city near you.
