Following on from the release of ‘Teach Ya’ earlier this year, Velvet Bloom are back with ‘DM Me’, another dose of their signature blend of soul and jazzy pop, and we’ve been lucky enough to share a sneak preview today before it officially drops on Friday.

Opening with a chiming guitar over a simmering groove, ‘DM Me’ slowly unfolds around frontwoman Maddy Herbert’s intoxicating vocals. Managing to sound commanding and delicate at once, she weaves a striking melody through the ebbing instrumentation, lulling us into a haze as we’re immersed by the sleepy layers of sound.

Despite being described as “a quirky love song created after a tinder conversation turned into an unforeseen and very happy relationship,” the track defies its modern-day touchstones. Instead, ‘DM Me’ feels refreshingly timeless, and as the soundscape blossoms at its final chorus while Maddy’s voice soars, we’re left completely captivated by the group’s incredibly soulful performance.
