Video Premiere:
Castilles - Lost In The City
Words by James Lynch
Monday 11th November, 2019
Ahead of the release of their new EP Intercontinental this Friday, we’ve got the pleasure of premiering the new single and clip from local rock ’n’ rollers Castilles - ‘Lost In The City’ is a blast of punchy garage-rock that bursts with contagious energy and spirit.
Following some muted chords, ‘Lost In The City’ explodes open and we’re instantly in the thick of a chorus - brimming with swagger and classic-rock charm, we’re hit with a wall of crunchy guitars jangles while frontman Jules Valentine weaves a hook-heavy melody with his soulful croon. Things cool off momentarily as the band shift into a simmering verse, but a sturdy rhythm section keeps the track pushing forwards. Sure enough, the calm is short lived and once again, we’re immersed in the waves of warm guitar chords, soaring melodies and stomping grooves, until Castilles ride the track out.

The new clip, created by Aidan McDonald, leans into the track’s lyrically content, showing Jules wandering around locations in Melbourne, through graffiti-covered laneways and shady dive bars. There’s not all that much to it, but there doesn’t need to be - perfectly nailing the track’s laidback attitude, it’s a fitting match that keeps us captivated as the track grooves along.

Intercontinental drops this Friday November 15, and you can catch Castilles on Friday, November 29th, at the Retreat as they launch the new EP.
