There’s a dynamic energy throughout the track, which is powered by vocal-centric verses that convey the track’s narrative, before we’re hit with an explosive chorus that sees frontwoman Andrea McKenzie’s commanding voice soaring over the fiery instrumentation.

According to the band, ‘Hate Girls’ is about “rejoicing in the people that hate you, because it gives you adrenaline and we get a kick out of the drama”. Instead of grief and sadness, Furlong revels in the awkwardness, in a way that is empowering through its high energy and fun nature.
