Kill Bell - you.

Alongside the announcement of their forthcoming debut album i don’t think that i have what you want, rising garage-punk duo Kill Bell have given us the pleasure of sharing a first listen to ‘you.’ today, a new dose of their unapologetic and powerful fusion of fiery punk attitude and pop sensibility.
Since forming in 2019, Kill Bell have been busy making a name for themselves amongst Melbourne’s music circles. Led by Charlie Pass and Nick Tamiakis and backed by a rotating roster of live members, they’ve become a constant at a number of local venues (The Tote, Old Bar, The Retreat Hotel…) while steadily amassing a collection of songs that spiral around their consistently propulsive and punchy sound. Today, this has finally culminated in the announcement that their debut album is on the way, and new single ‘you.’ is a thrilling taste of what to expect.

A coalescence of dreamy vocals and thunderous guitar and bass interplay over a hammering pulse, ‘you.’ comes packed with grit that feels right at home in the Melbourne music scene. Following on from their previous single ‘Sad Song’ with its grimy chug, ‘you.’ feels just as unnerving, especially so as Charlie’s honeyed voice floats above the wall of fuzz and pounding energy. Starting off with strident instrumentation, the track eases into catchy lyricism that bites at the lip.

To accompany the single, Kill Bell have shared a stark clip for ‘you.’ with us today. Matching the track’s turbulent atmosphere, the clip refuses to sit still, constantly jerking between shots of the band in black and white while the visuals warp and stutter. Considering Kill Bell have referred to the forthcoming album as ‘their baby’, it’s telling that their creativity is more than just their musical output, and on ‘you.’, the pair have clearly given their all to bring us this jewel of punk mayhem.

Kill Bell's debut album i don't think that i have what you want is set to be released on Tuesday May 11th and is available to pre-save now here.
