SNUB - Buzzkiller
Words by James Lynch
Friday 4th March, 2022
On their debut single ‘Buzzkiller’, local alternative rockers SNUB storm out of the gates with a two minute punk blitz that comes loaded with angsty energy and frenetic power.
Freshly minted Melbourne outfit SNUB might be new to the local scene, but if their debut single is anything to go by, they won’t be entering the fold quietly. A no-holds-barred sonic barrage, ‘Buzzkiller’ arrives today as a frenzied introductory statement that’ll have listeners itching to catch them in the flesh.

After opening with some searing feedback, ‘Buzzkiller’ launches into a blazing guitar riff, the band’s rhythm section thundering behind to keep up the pace. As soon as it emerges, vocalist Lisa Bell’s caustic howl steals the limelight, adding a throttled 90’s punk edge to the track as it strains at the seams. With the track’s lyrics loaded with angst, it’s fitting that the clip catches SNUB cutting loose at a party, giving the impression of kids who’ve had too much red cordial as they put their bratty energy on full display. It’s chaotic and thrillingly over the top, but ‘Buzzkiller’ comes off all the more fun for it.

Speaking about the song and clip, SNUB share “we've all been there... when you wanna party and have a good time but someone's killing your vibe. This song is a fuck you to all Buzzkillers! With the video we wanted to capture a party atmosphere as well as those feelings of anger and frustration that come with somebody trying to bring you down. We had heaps of fun shooting it... but the mess it made afterwards... not so much.”

'Buzzkiller' is out today in all the usual places. Keep up to date with SNUB by following them below.
