The Flowers - Summer Saviour
The Flowers - Summer Saviour
Sydney indie-pop band The Flowers are showing off their pipes with a luminescent new single ‘Summer Saviour’, and it’s just what we need as we say goodbye to the last hints of summer weather.
The duo exploded onto the scene in 2019 with their debut single ‘Truly Madly Sleepy’, followed by the equally eloquent ‘Origami’, and the next destination in their odyssey is ‘Summer Saviour’, a bright, boppy love song to warm your cold hearts.
With the powerfully sweet vocals of lead singer Agnes O'Dwyer at the forefront of the soundscape, we’re immediately transported to a bright, flowery field, as 'Summer Saviour' hits us with waves of shimmering guitars and breezy hooks over a bouncing backbeat. Despite the track’s sunny disposition, Agnes sounds vulnerable and honest up front, yet with an infectious groove and plenty of direct hooks, it’s impossible to keep from swaying along as the layers of guitar tangle around us.
According to Agnes, “the summer-gazing lyrics were written in hibernation last winter (we hate cold weather). We wanted to make the song sound as warm and bright as possible, it's what got us through the winter chill."
Drawing comparisons to acts like Jack River, Liza Anne, Ali Barter and Kississipi, popping ‘Summer Saviour’ on repeat will be an easy way to keep the sunny vibes going as we head into the colder months of the year.
