Today we’re thrilled to be premiering the new music video from Sydney-based producer Intaloopa - ‘Memories In Blue’ is a blast of synthwave goodness, with a clip that adds a touch of warped technicolour to the blissfully nostalgic tune.
Since his debut release in 2018, Intaloopa has been working tremendously hard to cement himself as an emerging force in Australia’s electronic and ambient pop circles. Following on from the Travelling While Sleeping EP, he is back again with ‘Memories In Blue’, an emotive dance track that expands on the surreal world crafted on his previous release. Speaking of his overall sound, Intaloopa turns "sounds into emotions” by “infusing analog synths, drum machines & live instrumentation to create dream-like soundscapes” - an immersive atmosphere that is completely felt on his latest track.
Kicking off with a dense wall of synths atop layers of fluctuating beats, listeners are instantly transported to a dimly lit club, surrounded by sweaty strangers. The steady synth presence is there from the get-go, and embeds the track with a psychedelic edge, as its lead melody repeats and warps hypnotically for the duration of the song. With almost no lyrics, besides the elusive title that continually emerges from the soundscape like a robotic mantra, the instrumental sits at the forefront of our focus, making it easy to lose ourselves amongst the waves of otherworldly sound while revealing the intricacy of Intaloopa’s production. As all the different synth layers and effects tangle and culminate at the track’s climax, there’s a dizzying effect, just for the track to strip back and take listeners on the journey all over again.
The single is paired with a striking video clip, created by design studio Insideout. The clip manages to perfectly accompany the sounds that Intaloopa build on ‘Memories In Blue’, with oscillating visuals constantly flickering and faltering throughout, cutting between real footage and warped animations and covered in a nostalgic haze of colour that feels referential to the track’s title. Like the track, the clip is both disorientating but completely absorbing, and although the visuals never quite settle for the track’s three and a half minute duration, it’s a clip that is incredibly difficult to look away from throughout.
